Accepting Payments in Australia on WordPress

Payment Page connects a WordPress site to two gateways: Stripe and PayPal Standard Checkout. If your business banks in Australia and your Stripe or PayPal account is set up for it, you can publish a payment form and start taking payments without building a store. If you specifically need an Australian gateway such as eWAY, Tyro or Afterpay, Payment Page is not the tool for that — this page will not pretend otherwise.
What actually decides which methods you can take
Payment Page does not decide which currencies or payment methods you can present. Your connected provider does. Availability depends on the gateway, the connected account, the country, the currency, the payer's browser or device, the plan, the transaction, and whether the payment is one-time or recurring. The reliable way to know what your own account can present is to connect it and check.
What you can publish
- One-time payments through Stripe or PayPal Standard Checkout — deposits, invoices, service fees, event fees, donations, or a simple digital product.
- Recurring payments through Stripe, on the intervals the plugin offers: One-time, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Every 6 months, Annually, Every 3 years. PayPal in Payment Page is one-time only.
- Custom or fixed amounts, custom fields, confirmation emails, redirects, and HTTP actions after a successful payment.
What it costs
The plugin is a free download from WordPress.org. The Free plan applies a 2% Payment Page platform fee to Stripe payments; PayPal does not carry that platform fee. Pro changes the Payment Page fee on Stripe to 0%. Stripe and PayPal charge their own processing fees under their own terms, and those are separate from anything Payment Page charges.
When something else fits better
Payment Page is a payment form, not a store. If customers need to browse a catalogue, use a cart, calculate shipping, or draw down inventory, use a commerce platform instead. If you need a gateway Payment Page does not connect to, use a plugin built for that gateway.
If Stripe or PayPal does suit you, start with the setup overview, see what methods can appear, or compare Free and Pro.
