A useful donation payment form makes the giving purpose, amount choice, billing frequency, requested donor information, and confirmation clear. Payment Page can provide fixed or payer-entered amounts and supported one-time or recurring Stripe plans without requiring WooCommerce. This checklist does not promise a conversion increase or determine tax deductibility.

State what the payment supports

Use a specific campaign, program, or general-fund description and keep it consistent from the page heading through the success message. Do not imply that a payment is tax-deductible unless the organization has established that separately for the donor and jurisdiction.

Offer understandable amount choices

Use fixed options when the organization wants to suggest known amounts, and add a custom-amount choice when a donor should enter a different value. Label one-time and recurring plans separately. Payment Page's Stripe intervals are daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, every six months, annually, and every three years.

PayPal Standard Checkout can be offered for an eligible one-time donation, but it is not a recurring Payment Page gateway. ACH Direct Debit through Stripe Financial Connections is available with Pro and remains subject to Stripe eligibility.

Collect only relevant donor information

Ask for the contact details the organization needs and explain any optional custom field, such as a dedication or campaign reference. Do not use custom fields for payment credentials, and do not collect sensitive information that is unrelated to the donation. If query-prefill is used for a campaign or reference, avoid placing private donor details in a shareable URL.

Plan the confirmation and follow-up

Configure a success message that acknowledges the submitted payment and explains the next step. Add a confirmation email or redirect when appropriate. Keep the message distinct from a legal receipt, tax statement, settlement confirmation, or fulfillment promise unless the organization has a separate process for that document or event.

Test the published form

  1. Test every fixed amount and the custom-amount path.
  2. Confirm that the selected one-time or recurring frequency is visible before submission.
  3. Review required, optional, and prefilled fields at desktop and mobile widths.
  4. Verify eligible payment methods in the appropriate provider test environment.
  5. Check the success, failure, email, and redirect outcomes without making a live donation.
